The church divided...

In about 2002 my dad felt God wanted him to start a church. This was scary, but my whole family thought it was what needed to be done. So, we started a church called Breath of Life Christian Church. We began meeting with about 3 or 4 families in the school cafeteria.
After a few months we merged together with another church in town and started meeting in their building. Everything was going great. We were gaining members and so we needed a bigger building. We prayed for some land and we settled on some land right outside of town to begin our building.
A few months later we were in a brand new building and things were looking amazing. God was working.
A few years went by and different things happened both good and bad. New programs were introduced and people came and left. Then my dad decided that he needed to just be gone for a while to search direction and have God work in him a little. So he left the church for about 6 months on a sabatical.
After the six months came to a close. My dad had a new vision for the church and was excited for what God had showed him. The elders and the assistant pastor, who took over the responibilities while my dad was away, did not agree with what my dad was saying. They had many meetings and we just not getting along.
Then everything blew up. My dad made some mistakes and the elders and assistant pastor said some awful things about my dad and decided that either he had to leave or they were leaving.
To say the least, the church split. Half the members left and half stayed. After a few months, my dad's church had to shut down because they could not financially make it.
This hurt my family, my dad, the church, and God very badly. We are supposed to be one body. There are stories like this that happen all the time. God wants us to be one body united, not divided.
